Highlanders blank New Albany 1–0, reach the Sectional 15 final

Floyd Central is playing for a sectional title. The Highlanders beat New Albany 1–0 in Thursday’s first semifinal at Seymour, scoring in the first half and holding the lead the rest of the way.
It turns around a regular-season result: New Albany won the September 17 meeting in Floyds Knobs 4–1, and came into the semifinal off a 6–0 first-round win over Jennings County. Floyd Central has now gone two sectional matches without conceding — 0–0 through two overtimes against Jeffersonville on Tuesday before a 5–4 shootout win, and a 1–0 result tonight. The varsity record moves to 7-8-3.
The final is Saturday, October 10 at 7:00 PM at Seymour, against the winner of Thursday’s 7:00 PM semifinal between Seymour and Silver Creek. The Highlanders beat both in the regular season — Silver Creek 5–0 on August 29 and Seymour 3–0 on September 15.
Tickets are digital only through Eventlink — $8, children five and under free. The bracket and the Saturday ticket link are on the program’s sectional page.
